Make the most of you new year’s resolutions by learning more about Yoga! Have you tried or have you thought about trying Yoga? Yes? Perfect! You couldn’t ask for better timing to try something new!
This New Years try out Yoga for your new year kicks! You may be thinking why should you do yoga or how do you fit it into your schedule, right?
As a single mother, I have been able to squeeze it into my schedule by starting out small with one pose per day. Once I felt comfortable; I was able to up that to 3 poses per day (usually about 40 minutes is all it takes). I always start with the … pose to concentrate on breathing and clearing my mind for about 5 minutes then move into first pose.
Second, I will move from first pose into second and then into third pose; each pose around 10 minutes.
Lastly the other 5 minutes is where I go back to the resting position and clear my mind to start my day. I try to do Yoga in the morning so I have a free clear mind for the rest of the day; but, it is also a great routine to have for ending your long day as well.
What are the benefits to doing Yoga?
There are so many benefits to adding Yoga into your every day routine. Yoga is known to improve Brain Function, Lower Stress Levels, Alter Gene Expression, and Increased Flexibility all within the first month of doing it.
After a few months; it is known to Lower Blood Pressure, Improve Lung Capacity, Improve Sexual Function, Reduce Chronic Neck Pain, Anxiety Relief, Chronic Back Pain, Steady Blood Sugar Levels in People with Diabetes, and Improve Sense of Balance.
If you set Yoga into your daily routine and make it a continuous effort; it is known to help you have stronger bones, be a healthy weight, and lower your risk of Heart Disease. Where do you start as a beginner? There are many beginner poses but the main thing you have to practice is learning to clear your mind and only concentrate on what you are doing at that current moment. You want to think as positive as possible and try meditating. With most people, there is so much we think about and worry about. Yoga is an escape for us from all of our worries and negative thoughts.
Are there any groups we can join for motivation?
Yes, Trekt Himalaya is actually hosting their 21-day challenge for Yoga and that would be a great way to participate and start your new routine with them. They post photos on their Facebook page and if you have questions, they try their very best to answer them quickly.
