Award Winning Himalayan Medical Trek Blog Awarded Spot in TOP 100 Hiking Blogs
The internationally popular blog posts by U.S. and Nepal based Trekt Himalaya and Medical Trek Nepal
have been awarded a spot in the Top 100 Hiking Blogs Every Hiker Must Follow by Feedspot, a web based
RSS clearinghouse.
KATHMANDU, Nepal – Oct. 27, 2016 – PRLog — Trekt Himalaya and Medical Trek Nepal are proud to
display a gold medal emblem on their web page showing the Top 100 Award and efforts on behalf of the
extreme sports and hiking community (visit: https://trekthimalaya.com/trekking-in-nepal/) . The award
winning blog posts are created to prepare hikers and extreme sports enthusiasts for the experiences and
challenges they will face while volunteering in Nepal.
Two of Medical Trek Nepal’s most viewed blog posts, provide medical volunteers, most first timers to
Nepal, with essential information on packing, permits, health precautions and cultural expectations helpful
for a successful and safe trek.
Sandra Krasa BK, founder of Medical Trek Nepal (https://trekthimalaya.com/volunteer-in-nepal/), writes the
blog to prepare volunteer nurses and doctors for their two week medical trek to remote Nepali villages that
have no access to even basic health care. The isolated villages are so remote, that the villagers seldom, if
ever, see Westerners. Sandra’s goal is to prepare the volunteer medical professionals and provide them with
as much information as possible to facilitate positive interactions between caregivers and villagers.
Human interest stories from the blog and accounts of the volunteer medical trekkers have been featured on
the Red Bull extreme sports website, Orlando Medical News in Florida, and newspapers in Australia. (See –

The blog’s helpful tips on Nepali customs, hiker safety, general dos and don’ts, are useful to almost any
adventurer visiting Nepal. The blog is read by medical trek volunteers and adventurers from all over the
globe; it is most popular with American, Australian, Israeli, Canadian and European travelers.
As the popularity of Medical Trek Nepal and medical voluntourism (
https://trekthimalaya.com/volunteer-in-nepal/) increases, Sandra expects her website traffic, social media
rankings and blog readership numbers to increase, as well. The hiking blogs help potential volunteers find
her website. Medical Trek Nepal started with one mission trip and four volunteers in 2012 and has grown
to eight trips and 70 medical volunteers in 2016. Sandra estimates that Medical Trek Nepal has treated over
10,000 Nepali villagers that would otherwise have had no access to medical care.
The need for medical care and disaster relief was especially great following the 2015 earthquake in Nepal.
Sandra quickly mobilized special medical units to hard hit, isolated villages that were literally leveled by
the catastrophic quake. To date, Medical Trek Nepal is the only relief that has arrived in many of these
isolated villages. For more on this see https://trekthimalaya.com/
